Badr-I Chach, Badr al-Din

   A well-known Persian poet of the 14th century hailing from Chach in Turkistan who at Delhi was connected with the courts of Ghiyas al-Din Tughlaq (1320-1325) and his son Muhammad bin Tughlaq (1325-1351). He was in the Deccan with Qutluqh Khan in 1345 and went with him to Delhi in that year. Badr left behind a large collection of his poetic compositions, including many odes praising his patrons, which together furnish useful information on the history of the Delhi sultanate.
